Miss France was crowned as the 65th Miss Universe winner during the coronation day held in the Philippines. She bested 86 contestants from the around the world including Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier, the first runner-up, and Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar, the second runner-up.
Miss France Iris Mittenaere was very happy as her name announced by Steve Harvey as the 2016 Miss Universe winner. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines passed the crown to Miss France.
The top 12 semifinalists selected by the judges after the preliminary competition were Miss France Iris Mittenaere, Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar, Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier, Miss USA Deshauna Barber, Miss Brazil Raissa Santana, Miss Canada Siera Bearchell, Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw, Miss Mexico Kristal Silva, Miss Kenya Mary Esther Ware, Miss Peru Valeria Piazza, Miss Panama Keity Drennan, and Miss Philippines Maxine Medina. Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane got top 13 as she got the highest online votes from the fans around the world.
Miss Myanmar received the best national costume award. She showed the audience traditional puppet moves together with the theater backdrop.
