Great news for all Miss Universe fans in the Philippines! It's confirmed! The Philippines will host the next Miss Universe pageant. The prestigious beauty pageant will be held on January 30, 2017.
There's a report that the pageant might be held outside Metro Manila. President Rodrigo Duterte requested organizers to stage the event outside Metro Manila to avoid adding to the traffic. Places to be considered include Cebu, Davao, Boracay, Palawan, Cagayan de Oro, and Vigan. According to Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, they are still considering holding the pageant at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
According to news, President of the Miss Universe Organization Paula Shugart, Philippines is the top choice to be the venue of Miss Universe 2016. One of reasons of that is Pia Wurtzbach, who won the 2015 Miss Universe. Aside from that, Philippines has hosted the pageant twice – in 1974 and 1994.
Meanwhile, Maxine Medina will represent Philippines at the 65th Miss Universe pageant. Will it be a back- to-back win?
